Our biodegradable, high flash-point liquid scintillation cocktail allows you to determine low levels of 3H in a wide range of water samples without requiring distillation. Ultima Gold™ LLT accepts up to 54% tap water, river water, rain water and even sea water, with 3H counting efficiencies of approximately 30% and with very low background levels. When used with the Tri-Carb® time-resolved low-level liquid scintillation analyzers, backgrounds are reduced even further, resulting in minimum detectable activities of less than 1.1Bq/L-1 (500 minute count time).

A researcher called explaining that he was trying to determine 14C in phytoplankton in sea water. However, he needed to remove some interfering inorganic 14C by treating the sea water with 6 N hydrochloric acid.
幸运8平台彩票A researcher wanted to know the percentages of the elements present in various commonly used cocktails to satisfy regulations concerning the disposal of cocktail waste by incineration.
The primary objective of all sample preparation procedures for liquid scintillation counting (LSC) is to obtain a homogeneous solution for efficient energy transfer from the sample to the LS cocktail. Aqueous solutions are some of the simplest and most commonly found in liquid scintillation analysis. In general, they provide the environment necessary for many assays and separations, and include the most encountered solvent media for the numerous radioisotopes usedin LSC.
幸运8平台彩票One of PerkinElmer’s field sales engineers forwarded a request for assistance regarding the selection of the optimal cocktail for use with a sample containing 4.5 mL deionized water and 0.036 N sulfuric acid. The nuclide of interest was 3H, and polyethylene vials were used extensively in the laboratory.
One of PerkinElmer’s field representatives requested help for a researcher currently using PerkinElmer cocktails that contained toluene and xylene. The researcher hoped to “skip” two generations of cocktails and move up to PerkinElmer’s newest, ULTIMA Gold™, line of cocktail. The researcher’s primary concern was compatibility of the cocktail and sample.
A laboratory had been under pressure to move towards the newer generation of safer liquid scintillation cocktails. Unfortunately, the sample composition of one of their targets kept giving the researchers problems. Before the lead researcher contacted PerkinElmer, they had tried PerkinElmer’s Opti-Fluor®, ULTIMAGold™ LLT, and ULTIMA Gold XR. All of the safer cocktails could incorporate each of the constituentsas indicated by their sample capacity graphs.
